Fergusons Winchester Special

The most memorable day in our lives was the day "Chester" became apart of our family. From day one, we knew that he was "Special" and was way smarter than us and still continues to prove it every day!

He learned all the basic commands, sit, stay, down, and sit pretty, with no effort at all. So we decided to teach him the "Fire Drill" (stop, drop, roll), which was no problem, then we decided if he was going to catch on so easy, we taught him to bark out his age (I don't recommend that one)we stopped after age 5, it was getting pretty loud!

We soon discovered that he heard and understood every word we said! We have a few words that we can't even spell because he seems to figure them out too! We can't even mention the words: truck-ride, ice cream, cookie, treat, lets go check the cows, unless you follow through with what you said.

He also is a master at moving cows and putting them back in the fence if they happen to get out, we aren't sure how he figured that one out, but He did. Oh, and don't forget Xmas present..He is worse than a little kid, when we say Chester it's Xmas, let's open presents, He dives under the tree and comes out with a present, so I have learned over the years, we don't put the dog gifts out until Xmas Eve, otherwise he lays under the tree and doesn't move. Luckly, He has never opened anything other than his!

I could go on forever about the crazy things he does, But at the end of the day, we couldn't have asked for a nicer, kinder, gentler, smarter boy than him, He truly has been the reason why I decided to start a breeding program, he was too good to not share with the world, every one should have the chance to experience what they mean by "Man's Best Friend" and "Unconditional Love" Nothing warms your heart like a big juicy kiss, the best foot warmer ever invented, and someone to bring your shoes to you!

We have decided that 2013 will be the last litter of pups He will sire, it's time to retire him and let the young gun take over! We have kept a son of Roxy and Chester to take over and "Gunner" will sire to his first litter with Abby in 2013.

You have a wonderful legacy of offspring and enriched so many lives along the way, including all the new friendships you have brought into our lives.

You have brought something to our lives that words just can't explain!

Chester, I hope you enjoy your golden years and fun!

We Love You more than You know.

"Scrimshaw Placido Flamingo. "

Another dog, while not particularly famous himself, passed his influence on into the red bitch lines of both Kelleygreen and Keepsake, was the fox red Scrimshaw Placido Flamingo. Tenor was bred by Barbara Barfield of Scrimshaw Labradors, sired by Ch Scrimshaw Duckless Fairbanks and the grandson of the very famous Ch Lindall Mastercraft. Tenor inherited the fox red shade from both sides of his pedigree, his grandfather, English Field Champion Venture of Brattonsplash and while his mom was a dark yellow, she had the red shade as well behind her. Tenor passed the fox red "C" allele on to his offspring. When bred to Kelleygreen's Lady in Red, they produced Keepsake's I Love Lucy, dam of the only AKC fox red champion, Keepsake's Cajun. Not only did he give his shade to his descendants but also his wonderful laid back temperament. This big red dog was everything a Labrador should be, a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
