Both of us being “born and raised” on the farm have always had a passion for horses and dogs, the country and the “way of life”. But as adults, little things like making a living and feeding your family have to be done, so like most farm kids, we both left the farm to pursue what we called our “dream jobs”, which meant living in “town” and having the same routine day after day. After working for others, we decided that maybe we should be "business owners” and work for ourselves, so we would have more flexible lives enabling our kids and us to be involved in things that we couldn’t otherwise when you work for some else.
Well, while being business owners is wonderful, there is just a little more “stress” and of course “way more hours” at your job. So, with the kids getting ready to venture out on their own, we both decided that maybe we should consider the possibility of another life change. So, David “surfing the net” one day found this great little ranch and said “maybe we should move back to the country.” Well, after being a city girl for a number of years, I had a couple of conditions before I would consider the country..

Must have high speed internet, and,

Only if I can have a Labrador retriever.

Well, guess what, thanks to technology, we were able to get high speed internet and use it to find the dream dog I was always wanting, and here we are! So we sold everything, packed up and moved to the country. The best “decision” we ever made! Yah, sometimes the monetary gains are small to none, but the “quality of life makes you rich”. Nothing beats getting up in the morning and looking out your bedroom window and see your horses and cows all out grazing. Oh, yah, I also threw away my watch, no more worrying what time it is, and “punching the time clock”! We eat when we are hungry and go to bed when we’re tired.
So, here we are, with a nice herd of Registered Simmental cows, Registered Quarter Horses, and Registered Labrador Retrievers (which now has risen to 7 from the original 1),  life just couldn't get any better. David has now been able to pursue his lifelong passion of training and teaching others about horses, “Hooked On Horses and me, well, I never bought my first lab with the intentions of being a breeder…But when we got Chester, he stole our hearts, so we decided he should have a playmate, then Roxy arrived…There is a saying about Labs..” Labs are like potato chips, “You just can’t stop at one”. With the joy they brought us, I thought that maybe it is time to “pay it forward”, so, my retirement project “Rascal Flats Labs” was born.
And of course nothing beats “calving season” the first sign of spring coming, then foaling season, every foal is always a surprise, you just never know what the color or markings might be!

We wish for everyone that you all do find “true happiness” in whatever road you take!
